This is a medium crystal malt that can either be used for mashing, or steeped without mashing if you are malt extract brewing.
Crystal malt is made by wetting high nitrogen malt before kilning and drying. Some of the sugars in crystal malts caramelise during kilning and become unfermentable; hence, addition of crystal malt will increase the final sweetness of a beer.
